-Jeremiah M. Durham

|ABOUT JEREMIAH

He's been called; "Jerry", "Rev", "Everybody's Daddy", and "Lil' Get-Out-Of-Here", but more than anything else, Optimist International & U.S. Presidential Service Award winner, Jeremiah M. Durham is a true servant of the Lord, and his community.

Jeremiah M. Durham was born on Tuesday, December 19, 2000 in Chicago, IL. unto Elder Melanie S. Durham and Robert Owens Jr. He began preaching in 2005, when he was only 4 years old. His first sermon was entitled, "Don't Let The Devil Make A Fool Out Of You", which was loosely based on the Adam & Eve story. He was then deemed the title, Junior Minister. Jeremiah was baptized in Jesus' name and filled with the Holy Ghost at the Faith Tabernacle #1 Apostolic Church of God.

He testifies that it was God who called him to the ministry and that he doesn't regret answering. Jeremiah has done many great things in his life, but he still remains humble and grateful to who and whose he is. Growing up, he was influenced by preachers such as; Pastor Mel Durham, Bishop Arthur M. Brazier, Bishop G.E. Patterson, Apostle R.D. Henton, Dr. Gertrude Stacks, Bishop J. Drew Sheard, Pastor Angie Ray, Pastor Mozena Durham, Elder Lottie V. White, Dr. Dorinda Clark-Cole, Rev., Dr. Clay Evans, Rev. Ivory J. Nuckolls, Pastor Kimberly Ray-Gavin, and Dr. Karen Clark-Sheard-- just to name a few. Under the watchful eyes and loving care of his mother, Jeremiah has been able to operate well under the anointing of God. In July of 2017, he was fully licensed a Minister of the Gospel, and in December of 2018, he was ordained to the office of Elder in the Lord's church. Both while under the leadership of Bishop Ronald J. Woods Jr.

Jeremiah M. Durham is not only a preacher, but an aspiring author, poet, graphic designer, photographer, activist, and mortuary science student. In July of 2014, he established his business, J. Art Projects & Designs, where "God Is The Inspiration Behind Every Creation". This creative graphic business has been known to be behind a lot of work seen constantly on social media. He's done work for known people such as, Pastor LaSybill Mitchell & WIN Ministries, Urban Magazine, Chicago gospel group-- God's Posse, and his most famed client and preaching inspiration, Dr. Dorinda Clark-Cole. Creating graphics for her app promotions and hit WORD Network show, The Gospel According to Dorinda. While doing this, on October 27th, 2018, he began operating, Durham65 Photography. A business, "Founded By God & Built With Family In Mind". The name was inspired by his grandmother, Mother Sarah F. Durham. The name representing the legacy she's created, and what she always stood for-- family. The number 65 is her birth year.

Jeremiah lived in Chicago until August 2008, when his mother relocated him and his older brother, Jakhari to Des Moines, Iowa. It was there Jeremiah graduated a year early from high school as one of the top 10 students of his 2018 class. He even gave a roaring speech, which was praised by the West Des Moines Community Schools' Superintendent. He attended Des Moines Area Community College for one year, before returning to Chicago in June of 2019. While taking on the task to help aid his great-grandmother until her demise, Jeremiah enrolled into the Associate in Arts program of Kennedy-King College, obtaining his degree in May of 2021. Jeremiah currently attends Malcolm X College of Chicago. There, he plans to receive his Associate in Applied Science degree for Mortuary Science. and obtain his license to be a funeral director and embalmer.

The call to activism became alive in Jeremiah through the old teachings and speeches of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. He calls him his greatest male inspiration. He's participated in several activist groups such as; Teens Against Human Trafficking, WCC Connections, and West Des Moines Schools' Equity Leaders. In less than one school year and a half, he completed 134 hours of community work in the Service Learning Program. Receiving the 2017 Optimist International Award, the 2018 U.S. Presidential Service Award, and special district recognition.

All of these things make up who he is and wants to be. He hopes to reach those of many ages, but specifically seeking out the hearts and minds of teens & young adults. For he too believes... the children are our future.
